Murray, Ky.—A natural gas leak in Murray Friday morning prompted evacuations of nearby residences and students playing outside were taken back into the school building.
Murray Firefighters were called out at 9:42 a.m. on a call of a reported natural gas leak in the 200 block of S. 16th St. Crews arrived and reported a one inch gas line was leaking after being run over by a lawn mower.
Engine 2 evacuated nearby residences and Murray Elementary students who were outside at the time were relocated back into the building. Water from a hose line was used to disperse the leaking gas until Murray Natural Gas crews arrived and plugged the leaking gas line. (Murray FD photo).
