Heavy Damage To Buchanan Home In Fire

 
 
Buchanan, Tenn.—Heavy damage was caused to a home in Buchanan following a kitchen fire Thursday afternoon.
 
The Paris Landing Fire Department was dispatched to 280 Eagle Rd. at 5 p.m. on a report of a kitchen fire. The Paris Fire Department provided mutual aid.
 
 
Fire Chief Reggie Coles said, arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the structure.
 
“A significant fire was located in the kitchen and extinguished.  The owner, Mrs. Don Dodd stated she was in the utility room when her smoke alarms went off.  She discovered her kitchen in flames and heavy smoke.  She was able to escape unharmed.”
 
A problem with a kitchen receptacle is the suspected cause.   Damage is estimated at $35,000.
 
Five trucks and 12 personnel were on the scene for about 1 hour.  Paris Fire Dept. also sent 1 truck and 2 personnel.
