Paris, Tenn.—A Paris man was sentenced to 25 years in jail after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of a Hazel man in a Puryear parking lot last fall.
Phillip Lee Nelson, age 19, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree murder. The case involves the shooting death of Joshua Hadra, who was 22 at the time of his death. He was shot in the Mini-Mart parking lot in Puryear in September of 2017.
Original charges against Nelson were first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and unlawful possession of a weapon.
