Huntingdon, Tenn.–The Shepherd’s Table, the community kitchen created by volunteers at the First Presbyterian Church in Huntingdon, will be serving another hot meal on Tuesday, May 15th, in their Fellowship Hall located at 19835 E. Main Street.
Dining will begin promptly at 5:15 pm and the kitchen will be open until 6:45 pm. Anyone hungry or seeking fellowship for a meal is invited.
Mary Lodge, a volunteer with The Shepherd’s Table, and wife of Minister Arthur Lodge, said, “this month’s meal will be Tacos, chips and salsa, refried beans, vanilla ice cream and chocolate chip cookies.” The food is freshly prepared for each meal and all guests are served restaurant style.
Each guest is welcomed to come in, take a seat at the table and someone will come and take their drink order and deliver their food to them. “It may not be fine dining, but it is dining at its finest,” said Volunteer John Wambles.
The Shepherd’s Table’s first meal was a huge success. More than 30 meals were served to guests, volunteers and local dignitaries that came by to support the First Presbyterian Church’s efforts. “We had guests that came by to eat that left and brought back other guests,” Mary Lodge said.
The community kitchen’s success is dependent upon guests, volunteers and donations. If you know of someone that needs a hot meal or would prefer to not eat alone for at least one meal please inform them about The Shepherd’s Table or better yet bring them by and join them for a meal. More information about volunteering or donating to the Shepherd’s Table may be obtained by calling The First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon at (731) 986-5642. If no answer, please leave a message, someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
