Paris, Tenn.—City Employee Marcus Russell points to his great-grandfather on the new mural being installed in downtown Paris, while Artist Dan Knowles stands by. The mural—which depicts a visual history of Paris—was installed in the alley between Market and Fentress Streets this morning by Knowles and city employees Chris Mosley, Scott Lambert, Dylan Johnson and Malcolm Long. Knowles completed the mural last month after weeks of research and hard work. Russell’s great-grandfather Archie Diggs is one of the men depicted in the mural, taken from an old photo from Mule Day activities which used to be held in downtown Paris. The formal dedication of the mural will occur June 6. In other photos, which were taken from the second floor of the Wallin Building, Knowles, Lambert, Johnson and Mosley prepare to put up the first panel. (Shannon McFarlin photos).
