Martin, Tenn.—A rural Martin man was arrested on two occasions in the past few weeks and charged with numerous drug charges. On a third occasion, a search warrant was executed at his home and two other men were arrested on drug charges there.

The man was released on bond, however, and has failed to appear in court, according to Captain Randall McGowan.

The incidents began March 29 when investigators from the Weakley Co. Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop driven by Charles Douglas Settles of Mt. Pelia Rd. Settles was informed by deputies they were taking his car and were going to apply for a search warrant to look for drugs. Settles was told he could stay with the car but was free to leave.

Settles walked away. When the search warrant was executed, three ounces of crystal meth was found along with four ounces of marijuana and morphine pills. Two sets of digital scales and $320 was found. The car and the cash (and the drugs) were seized and warrants were drawn for Settles.

On April 20, Settles was seen by Chief Deputy Mark Black in a car in Greenfield. A traffic stop was performed and Settles was arrested on outstanding warrants and an additional three-fourths ounce of crystal meth was found.

Settles then was arrested on two counts of possession of meth with intent to sell, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He was released on $25,000 bond and failed to appear in court.

Later on April 20, a search warrant was executed at his home. Two people in the home were charged with simple possession of drugs. They were Donald Edward (Heavy D) Nettles, age 49, and Kashif Bond, age 22. Nettles also was charged with being a fugitive from justice.
