Paris, Tenn.—Thanks to a working smoke detector, the resident at 110 Marilyn Street in Paris was able to escape safely this morning from a fire which destroyed her home.
Homeowner Kathy Pruiett was awakened by the smoke detector around 7:45 a.m. The 1,997-square foot single-story ranch home was destroyed, along with two vehicles in the car port. Flames were shooting out of the attic area when firefighters arrived.
Captain Chris Mustain told WENK/WTPR that firefighters have determined that the fire started from electrical wiring in the attic area.
