Union City, Tenn.—The Union City Animal Control Department, located at 1415 North Fifth Street has been deemed a “Certified Animal Control Agency’ by the Tennessee Department of Health. The certification was presented following an inspection of the facility by a member of the Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. The qualifications for certification include facility cleanliness, environmental conditions, and employment of certified/licensed personnel along with completion and maintenance of records, display of licenses and certificates, and meeting of state and federal standards.
At the conclusion of this inspection, the Department was found to be in full compliance. City Manager Kathy Dillon and Chief Perry Barfield both agree that the city is fortunate to have such an excellent physical facility but also to have Amanda Hayslett as Crew Leader for the Department.
“Amanda works diligently in caring for animals found running at large, abandoned, or mistreated. She makes every effort to reunite lost animals with their owners. She further goes above and beyond in attempting to adopt out animals that are abandoned,” Barfield said.
