Paris, Tenn.—It was a perfect hush puppy toss from Hostess Princess Gracie Osbron to her mother to open the Fish Tent at the World’s Biggest Fish Fry Wednesday night.
Long-time Jaycee David “Tater” Hayes thanked “all the people that make this thing happen”—and the list was long. Hayes noted that fresh, never frozen, catfish was served Wednesday night and said, “We’re doing it the old-fashioned way with fresh fish and if you like it, that’s the way we’ll have it from now on.”
Hayes saluted the traditions that go into making the Fish Fry a success year after year and the generations of the same families that make up a lot of the work crew behind the scenes.
General Manager Lisa Stone said, “It’s truly a great honor to serve as the General Manager this year. There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to everyone who helps every year. Everyone really strives to make this the best we can every year.”
The Fish Tent menu, as always is: Fresh fried catfish, hush puppies, French fries, slaw, white beans and drink. All you can eat for $12 (children 6-12 for $8) and as always, carry-outs are available.
The Fish Tent’s hours are 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 25 and 26; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 27-28.
The Fish Fry continues through Saturday night.
