Springville, Tenn.—A home in Springville was destroyed by fire today, but the family and their pets are safe.

Springville Volunteer Firefighters were called to 321 Bud Road around 9:30 a.m. today and found the frame home engulfed in flames. Springville Fire Chief Bob McDowell told WENK/WTPR that the home and garage were both destroyed.

“Everything on that lot is gone,” he said. “The garage was extremely close to the house and with the extreme heat of the fire and the wind today, the garage also ignited.”

Residents of the property were Dusty Childress and Amanda Hileman and their children and all of their household items and clothing were lost in the blaze.
Their cousin, Cristi Carper said all family members and their pets escaped the fire safely. She said the family needs everything and said there is an immediate need for crutches because Childress is an amputee and his crutches were lost in the fire.

McDowell said the Henry County EMS sent an ambulance to the scene, but thankfully it was not needed. “It was an extremely hot fire and the smoke was hanging low. They sent it on standby in case it was needed by the people in the house or by the firefighters.”

The cause has not yet been determined, McDowell said, “but the hot spot was near the kitchen/laundry room.”

Mutual aid was caused by the Oakland and Paris Fire Departments and firefighters worked at the scene all day.

Carper provided the sizes for family members. She said donated items can be taken to 30 Sulphur Well Academy Rd.
