By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director

Murray, Ky.—The youngest candidate for Murray City Council is Henry County High School graduate Caitlin Murnane, age 21, who now is a senior at Murray State University.
To say that Murnane is busy would be an understatement. She is a senior, going full-time to Murray State, works as a manager at Rue 21, is a veterinarian’s assistant at Westside Veterinary Service, works at Heritage Hall on campus as a receptionist and is head waitress at Fat Daddy’s in the summer. She is a pre-vet major with a minor in psychology.

Murnane is running on a platform of reform of city government, with emphasis on equality of taxing students and the elderly.

Murnane is one of 34 candidates for council positions at the May 22 city primary. 11 of those candidates are incumbents and the remainder are challengers.

She is the daughter of mother Christi Carper, stepfather Jeromy Carper of Paris; and father Eric Murnane of Indianapolis.

She is a 2014 graduate of Henry County High School, grew up in Buchanan and lived in Paris during her senior year.
