12-Year-Old Girl Airlifted To Vanderbilt Medical Center

Paris, Tenn.—A 12-year-old girl was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center following an incident Monday. First responders initiated life saving measures while Sheriff Monte Belew drove the ambulance to Henry County Medical Center and the Paris Police and deputies blocked intersections and traffic.

According to a press release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call around the lake area on Monday.

A 12-year-old girl had called 911 and advised she was having difficulty breathing and was chocking. Cpl. Blake Jenkins was close to the residence and was on the scene within minutes.

Deputy Jenkins first made contact with the child’s grandmother who was unaware of any chocking situation. When Jenkins went around the back of the residence he found the girl hanging and was unresponsive.

Jenkins lifted the girl up and first responder Woody Case from the Paris Landing Fire Dept. cut her down. Case then immediately began CPR. Paramedics arrived and initiated life saving measures.

Sheriff Belew drove the ambulance to the Medical Center while deputies and Paris P.D. blocked intersections and cleared traffic. Upon arrival at the Henry County Medical Center the child was immediately flown out to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

“The Sheriff’s Office sends out our thoughts and prayers to the child and her family as well as all of our first responders and paramedics for the great teamwork,” according to the press release.
