Paris Firefighters Kept Busy With House Fire, Three Grass Fires At Same Time

Paris, Tenn.–A vacant home was destroyed by fire this afternoon and while Paris Firefighters were extinguishing that blaze, three separate unconnected grass fires erupted about one and a half miles away.
The frame home at 1790 Spring Hill Rd. was already fully engulfed and had already collapsed from damage when firefighters arrived and they began extinguishing the fire in the area around the house, calling for the Forestry Department to reduce the fire from moving into the surrounding woods.
At the same time, firefighters received a call from 911 advising them of three separate grass fires on Carpenter Jones Road. Firefighters were dispatched to extinguish those fires and then returned to the house fire.
All of the grass fires were on Carpenter Jones Rd. and were several feet away from each other. All three were on the roadside.
The Henry Volunteer Fire Department last week asked for the public’s help in determining whether roadside fires in their area have been deliberately set.
Assistant Paris Fire Chief Randall Jones said the Henry Co. Sheriff’s Office is investigating today’s fires.
The vacant home was owned by Annie Parrish of Henry and property damage is valued at $6,000.
The property where the grass fires were is owned by Tommy Ellis.
