Weakley County Inmate Dies In Jail

 
 
Dresden, Tenn.—An inmate died early this morning at the Weakley County Jail. His body was sent to the medical examiner’s office in Nashville and an investigation is being conducted by the TBI, at the request of the sheriff and district attorney.
 
Captain Randall McGowan said about 4:45 a.m. Monday morning, corrections officers were advised that a 35-year-old male inmate was having a seizure.
 
Weakley County EMS was advised and an ambulance responded to the jail. McGowan said as the ambulance arrived, the inmate went into cardiac arrest and EMS personnel and corrections officers administered CPR.
 
Attempts to revive the inmate were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at 5:26 a.m.
 
The Weakley County Medical Examiner’s investigator was at the scene and sent the body to Nashville for autopsy. Sheriff Mike Wilson talked with the District Attorney Tommy Thomas and the TBI has been called to investigate the death.
 
The name of the inmate is not being released yet, pending family notifications.
