Murray, Ky.—Two Murray residents escaped serious injury in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 641 South Wednesday. The vehicles left the roadway, with one vehicle going through a brick wall and landing in a ditch. One vehicle flipped over on its roof.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Tabard Drive and Hwy. 641.
At the time of the collision it was raining and had been raining for several hours. Michael Wilson, age 61 of Murray was operating a silver Ford Explorer heading southbound on 641 South and had slowed down to make a right turn onto Tabard Drive. Haylee Valentine, age 18 of Murray was operating a black Pontiac Grand Prix and was also heading southbound on 641 South. Valentine did not stop her vehicle in time to avoid striking the rear end of Wilson’s Explorer.
The collision caused Wilson’s Explorer to hit the brick wall at the entrance of Tabard Drive that identifies it as the Spring Creek Subdivision. The Explorer then went through the wall landing in the ditch that had water flowing through it from the rainfall. Valentine’s Pontiac followed behind the Explorer into the ditch, but entered the ditch sideways causing the vehicle to end up on its roof in the water. Both occupants were able to exit their vehicles prior to witnesses or emergency personnel’s assistance.
