McKenzie, Tenn. – Rachael French Brooks of Paris has been named Bethel University’s Title IX and Prevention Services Director.
Brooks will be responsible for coordinating all aspects related to Title IX compliance and training for the university. Additionally, she will implement prevention services programming and educate students on making healthy lifestyle choices.
“We are very fortunate to have Rachael undertaking this role for Bethel,” Bethel President Dr. Walter Butler said. “Her unique skill sets will very much help us to best serve our students with regard to Title IX and prevention services.”
Brooks holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from Union University. She also graduated in the Top 15% of her class from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Her related experience includes work as the Director of Career Services and Prevention at Bethel and as a Therapist for Health Connect of America where she provided both in-home and office-based clinical therapy and case management services. She has interned with the Public Defender’s Office for the 24th Judicial District and worked as an Associate Attorney with the law firm of Charles L. Hicks in Camden, Tenn.
Furthermore, Brooks has worked and interned with Carey Counseling Center, Americorps VISTA, Regional Inter-Faith Association (RIFA) in Jackson, Smoky Mountain Children’s Home, and J Crib Urban Ministries After School Tutoring Program. She has taken part in volunteer and mission work in Capetown South Africa; Kenya, Africa; Coban, Guatemala; Guaimaca, Honduras; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And she has presented at conferences including the UT Disability Issues & Advocacy Conference where she spoke on “Interscholastic Athletics Under Disability Law: Playing with a Disability.”
Brooks and her husband, Dedrick, live in Paris, Tenn. She said she is very excited about this new opportunity and is looking forward to serving the Bethel community in this new role.
