Shooting Suspect Sought; McEwen HS On Lockdown

McEwen, Tenn.—McEwen High School is on soft lockdown today as Humphreys Co. Sheriff’s deputies continue to look for a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting overnight.

According to deputies, the shooting occurred just west of McEwen. Wanted in connection to the shooting is Christopher James Keller, age 26, and he is wanted on the charge of attempted murder.

On its Facebook page, McEwen High School officials made clear that the lockdown is not in response to any threats made at school.

“The soft lockdown was implemented as a precaution while local law enforcement are searching for the identified suspect. A soft lockdown means that the school day goes on as usual except extra precaution is taken to make sure all exterior doors remain locked and secure, students do not go outside unless supervised, and visitors are screened as they enter the secure entrance,” according to the Facebook post.

If you know the whereabouts of Keller please contact the sheriff’s office at 931-296-7792 or email CID@hcsotn.com.
