Union City, Tenn.—Mike Hutchens is reporting that Obion Co. Central Head Boys’ Basketball Coach Bill Kail has been relieved of his duties after 12 seasons.
Hutchens, along with Robin Francis, is a sports commentator for WENK/WTPR and will have more on their weekly program.
Kail compiled a 180-170 record during his tenure. School officials told Hutchens that a search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
“We feel the program has shown improvement during his tenure but, as administrators, we also feel a different approach may be necessary to move our program to the next level,” said OCCHS Athletics Director Craig Rogers, who was also speaking on behalf of Principal Greg Barclay and Assistant Principal Barry Kendall.
“We appreciate everything that Coach Kail has done for our program.”
