Paris, Tenn.—The old Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes scam is making the rounds again in Henry Co.
The Henry County Commissioner’s office and Henry County Sheriff’s Office have been receiving phone calls from senior citizens who have been receiving calls informing them they have won the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes.
Both the sheriff’s office and commissioner’s office said the caller tells them they have won the sweepstakes and that the caller will stay on the phone while you go to Wal-Mart and get “some papers.”
The callers tell them they are to purchase an $800 gift card to send to them before they can receive all their money.
The callers have been targeting senior citizens, who are warned not to fall for the scam. When you receive a call like this, just hang up.
