Murray State Prof To Perform At Carnegie Hall

 
 
Murray, Ky. — Dr. Meeyoun Park, pianist and assistant professor of music at Murray State University, will perform in Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, March 20, as part of the Yonsei University Alumni Association’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. Yonsei University, Park’s alma mater, has one of the preeminent music programs in South Korea and the world with numerous alumni performing and teaching around the globe.
 
Park has received critical acclaim throughout the United States and abroad as both a soloist and collaborator, performing in significant venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and the Lincoln Center in New York City.
 
A native of Seoul, South Korea, Park began her studies with Young-hye Chun, one of the first women in Korea to earn a doctoral degree in piano. Park earned an undergraduate degree in piano performance at Yonsei University under the tutelage of Bong-Ae Shin and Sung Yup Hwang before continuing her studies with Karen Shaw at Indiana University. At Indiana University, Park earned  Master of Music, Performer Diploma and Doctor of Music degrees in piano performance.
 
Outside her teaching and performing duties at Murray State, Park also serves on the faculty of the Indiana University Piano Academy, one of the nation’s leading summer programs for pre-college pianists. She regularly serves as a master class clinician and guest adjudicator in competitions across the country.
