Buford Pusser’s Daughter Dies

 
 
Adamsville, Tenn.—The Buford Pusser Museum this morning announced the sudden passing of Pusser’s daughter Dwana Pusser Garrison.
 
Dwana was the only child of Buford and his wife, Pauline.
 
The message posted on Facebook by the Museum this morning reads, “We are profoundly saddened at the sudden passing of our precious Dwana Pusser Garrison. She was a crusader for Law Enforcement and spent her life carrying on the legacy of her father, the legendary Sheriff Buford Pusser. She was an important part of our lives and will be missed beyond measure. Dwana is survived by her husband, Jamie Garrison; Two daughters, Atoyia Barnes and Madison Garrison; and two grandsons, Hayes and Jack Houston.”
 
Buford Pusser was the legendary sheriff of McNairy County who became famous when the movie “Walking Tall” was released in 1973. “Walking Tall” vividly described Pusser’s efforts to clean up McNairy Co. of criminal activities.
 
Pusser’s wife Pauline was killed in an ambush in 1967 and Pusser was killed in a car wreck in 1974.
The Museum is located in the Pusser’s former home in Adamsville.
