HC Sheriff’s Deer Meat Giveway Is Friday

Paris, Tenn.—The Henry County Sheriff’s Office will be holding its annual Deputies for the Hungry deer meat giveaway at 9 a.m. Friday morning at the sheriff’s department on Forrest Heights in Paris.

Chief Deputy Damon Lowe said deputies will give away all meat until it is gone.

Throughout the deer hunting season, local hunters donate deer for processing by the sheriff’s office.

This year, 177 deer were donated and 5,000 pounds of deer meat will be given away in packages of 1-1/2 pounds.

Lowe said the hides also are cured and donated to the Elks Lodge for a program they participate in for veterans.

The processing is overseen by John McElroy and Chris Thompson and inmates also participate.
