Union City, Tenn.—The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed what everyone already knew: A tornado did indeed hit Obion County Saturday evening.
NWS team members from Memphis toured Obion County today along with Obion County EMA Director Danny Jowers.
Jowers said the team has not yet determined the strength of the tornado, whether it was an EF1 or an EF2. Jowers said he expects to hear from the NWS shortly–maybe as soon as Tuesday.
Jowers told WENK/WTPR that the survey team believes it was ‘either a strong EF1 or a weak EF2.”
