Obion County Storms Cause Outages

Union City, Tenn.—The wave of severe storms through Obion County Saturday caused customers of the Union City Energy Authority to experience electric service outages over the weekend.

Authority CEO Jerry Bailey said most of the outages were due to a storm that came through Union City about 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Bailey said, “A broken pole caused a circuit to go out and due to complications with the restoration efforts along with the bad weather conditions, service to these approximately 500 customers took longer than expected. The service was restored about 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The storm caused other mostly scattered outages on the south and east sides of the city, he said.

Bailey said he regrets the outages and the inconvenience to its customers.
