Cumberland River To Rise Sharply

Dover, Tenn.—The Stewart Co. Emergency Management Agency is cautioning the public to expect the Cumberland River to rise sharply over the next week or two.
According to a Facebook post, the EMA reports they have received information from the US Army Corps of Engineers “that we should expect and prepare for sharp rises on the Cumberland River over the next 7 to 10 days.”
“This is an early heads up that we could see river elevations of near 70 feet (370′ MSL) by Monday, March 5th,” according to the Stewart County EMA. “While we don’t expect any flooding of homes with this, there will be significant travel issues in areas that are prone to river flooding. We ask that if you live in one of those areas you prepare now for the possibility that your road may be impassable for a few days beginning this weekend and continuing for several days. Keep in mind that this is several days out and these numbers are very likely to change some as the week progresses.”
