Paris, Tenn.— The members of the Tennessee Valley Community Church stepped up to the plate in a big way Saturday, raising a total $20,047 for the Henry County Helping Hand Radio Auction, bringing the grand total raised so far this year to $285,055.
It was obvious from the early morning that Saturday would be a big day for Helping Hand, with members bringing 441 items to the fairgrounds to donate for the auction. There were 29 slates of items in all donated.
A silent auction was held during the day, with 150 items sold, and that auction itself raised $3,383.
A huge crowd was on hand at the Enoch Building, with high bids shown for the donated items.
Helping Hand ends next week, on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Helping Hand raises money each year for a long list of non-profit and service organizations in the county. Last year, over $350,000 was raised and it is organized totally by volunteers.
Helping Hand is held at the Enoch Building at the fairgrounds and is broadcast live over our radio stations. The daily auctions begin at 12:30 p.m. and are aired on WTPR 710 AM.
Next week’s schedule:
Monday: India community, Open Doors Community Church, Henry County Girl Scouts, Henry County Saddle Club, WRAP.
Tuesday: Lakeway Village.
Wednesday: Open to Anyone Day. Anyone who wants to donate on this day is asked to call Sharon Kummerow at 593-0077.
