Union City, Tenn.—A Union City man been charged with eight counts of aggravated assault following an incident Thursday night in which he was armed with loaded weapons—an AR 15 and a pistol—and was threatening “to kill everyone”.
Erick Morales, age 24, is being held without bond in the Obion County Jail. He will be arraigned at 1 p.m. today.
Union City Police were called to the residence late last night on a report of someone with two guns talking about killing everyone. When police arrived, a resident met them outside and told them Morales was sitting on the couch with two guns and with two small children sitting beside him.
Police were told that Morales had the pistol cocked and in his hand and the AR 15 beside him. Police went to the back of the residence and received more information on exactly where Morales was sitting from people in the residence.
At that point, Obion County sheriff’s deputies arrived and were briefed on the situation. Morales was taken into custody without incident.
People in the residence said Morales had been smoking meth and was paranoid and saying he didn’t want anyone to take his kids. The AR 15 belonged to a neighbour. Both weapons were taken into evidence.
