Fulton, Ky.—Fulton County High School has begun checking all backpacks and purses as students enter the building and school officials say students have been cooperative and appreciative of the procedures.
In a Facebook post, high school officials said the procedure began on Tuesday this week.
“This is a safety measure to help our students feel safer while at school,” according to the post. “Students have been very respectful and have commented it has helped ease their anxiety. We will continue this procedure for the rest of the school year. I would like to thank the Hickman Police Department, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife for helping with this procedure and being on our campus at Fulton County. It’s been a great week of learning at FCHS!”
