Paris, Tenn.—Henry County High School Principal Michele Webb this morning addressed inaccurate information being related on a local Facebook site which was reporting that the high school was on lockdown and there were with concerns with threats. The reports are not true, Webb said.
In a message to parents this morning, Webb said:
“Late last evening, it was brought to my attention by the Henry County Sheriff’s Department that they were investigating a concern brought to them about a potential threat at HCHS. After an investigations that occurred throughout the night, it was determined that the threat was NOT toward the high school or any other school in our system. Every threat is taken seriously and we allow law enforcement to do their work and provide guidance. We did have an extra officer on campus this morning, which we will do from time to time.
It is our understanding that social media this morning is reporting that HCHS is on lock down and that there is an active concern of safety. Neither of those reports are true. We have started our day off like normal and students are in classes learning.
If you ever have a concern, please do not hesitate to call us or local law enforcement directly to check. We also appreciate your help in not ensuing panic through social media. Please do not post or repost something that would do so, Instead, please call us.
Your children’s safety is of our utmost concern. In the coming days, we will be making a few changes to safety procedures, such as morning entry into the building. We will communicate this information to you and your students.”
