Paris, Tenn.—The Henry County Helping Hand Radio Auction has now raised $209,955 for the year, counting the whopping $27,938 raised Saturday by members of the First Baptist Church.
But as substantial as that amount is, First Baptist came up a few thousand short in its friendly rivalry each year with First United Methodist Church. First Methodist raised $30,760 last Saturday.
It was a busy day at Helping Hand, with 533 items donated by First Baptist. Amounts raised were $14,333 in the afternoon auction, followed by $13,608 raised in the night auction.
Last year, over $350,000 was raised, all of which is distributed to local non-profit organizations.
Looking ahead to next week, the schedule is:
Monday: Henry community, Henry Beta Club, Bunns community, UT supporters, Senior Citizens Center.
Tuesday: Sunnyside/Country Wood, Scenic Hills/Casleton Cove, Food Bank, Extendicare, Ladies with SWAG.
Wednesday: Paris Landing and Resort areas, Country Club Estates/Nelson/Shady Grove, Tomorrow’s Hope, Wesley Pine Ridge.
Thursday: Elkhorn community, Friends of Wildlife Refuge, CHHAMPS, Henry Farmers CO-OP.
Friday: Real Hope Youth, Easton’s Angels, Friends of McNeill Park, Salvation Army.
Saturday: Henry County Medical Center.
The auction continues through February 28.
