Flu Closes Stewart Co. Schools

Dover, Tenn.—Due to the widespread flu outbreak, Stewart County Schools will be closed the rest of the week.
Director of Schools Leta Joiner said after consulting with medical professionals in the county, “The decision has been made to close schools the remainder of this week. Flu again in on the upsurge and in some cases with life-threatening consequences. This decision is not made lightly, but always with the best interest of students in mind. This closure will cause us to use one additional stockpile day over those designated as stockpile days. Therefore, to make up this additional day, all Stewart County Schools will be in session on President’s Day, Monday, February 19, 2018.”
All school activities will be cancelled.
Schools will be reopened Monday, February 12, but as Joiner said, they will be in session President’s Day, Monday, February 16.
