By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Grand Rivers, Ky.—The popular Patti’s 1880s Settlement will be closed while owners rebuild following a fire at the restaurant in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, this morning.
Patti’s Owners said on their Facebook page this afternoon that plans to rebuild are already in process “and we would like to assure our 200-plus employees that their jobs are secure.”
Grand Rivers Tourism Commission Director Brian McDonald told WENK/WTPR this afternoon that the latest reports are that the fire was contained to the kitchen and office space. The office was located in an area above the kitchen.
“We don’t know the extent of the damage yet,” McDonald said, “because there may be smoke and water damage to other parts of the building.”
Patti’s Owners said on Facebook, “First of all, we are thankful that all of our employees are safe. We would also like to thank the area fire departments and first responders for their quick response and all they did to keep the fire contained… We are humbled by the outpouring of support from our town of Grand Rivers and surrounding communities.”
Four or five fire departments from the surrounding area responded, including the Calvert City Fire Department with its ladder truck.
McDonald said, “This will have a definite affect on the Grand Rivers community. We’re a very close-knit community.”
Patti’s 1880s Settlement is an area destination which includes a first-rate restaurant, hotel, shops, mini-golf, an animal farm and plenty of kids’ activities.
