Paris, Tenn.—The late Jamie Weatherly was one of the biggest supporters of the Henry County Helping Hand and she was especially present on First United Methodist Church Day during the auction, baking pies and other items, and making bids.

Her death in January, right at the beginning of Helping Hand, was especially bittersweet, and her presence today is especially felt, as the members of the First United Methodist Church gather together for their Helping Hand Day.

In her honor, the Paris and Spares Sunday School Class of the church is donating a special lemon pecan pie that was made by Carolyn Scarbrough with the recipe of Jamie’s late husband, Bob.

The lemon pecan pie will be auctioned off tonight during the in-house auction that begins at 6 p.m.

“We wanted to do something in her memory”, Jim Bundy said, “and we’ve been collecting money at the Sunday School class and with others. We’ll have a mock auction during the in-house auction for Jamie.”

Several other items on the auction block today were donated in honor of Jamie Weatherly, too.

The afternoon auction, as always, is broadcast on WTPR 710 AM beginning at noon. A silent auction also will be held during the day, with the in-house auction beginning at 6.

Helping Hand is held every day during January and February at the Henry County Fairgrounds.
