By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.—One man is in custody and another was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville following a shooting this afternoon in Paris.
Paris Police arrested Tyrone D. Harris, age 20 of Gilbertsville, Ky., and charged him with attempted first-degree murder and possession of marijuana. Captain Ricky Watson said the incident is still being investigated and more charges are pending.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was first transported to Henry County Medical Center and then airlifted to Vanderbilt. The condition is unknown.
Watson said in a press release issued this afternoon that officers responded to Washington Courts on a report of a person being shot. At the scene, officers determined that the incident began in one of the apartments and continued outside.

Watson said the victim was shot once in the arm while inside a vehicle in front of the apartment. Another subject was inside the car, but was not injured, Watson said.
Harris was then chased from the apartments by the victim’s step-brother, who also was not injured.
Paris Police quickly located Harris in the field just south of nearby Knott’s Foods.
Harris is scheduled to be in court Tuesday (January 30).
The Paris Police were assisted by Henry County Sheriff’s deputies.
