McKenzie, Tenn.—The Tri-County Motor Co. of McKenzie will now become Peppers Ford after the purchase of the long-time McKenzie company by the Peppers Automotive Group of Paris.
Clay and Brooxie Dillahunty have sold their dealership to Doug and Mark Peppers, who operate three dealerships in Paris: Toyota, General Motors and Jeep-Dodge.
The Tri-County Motor Co. began as McKenzie Motor Co. in 1922 by former owner J.W. Atkins Sr. and was located in downtown McKenzie at the corner of Main and Cedar Streets. The dealership began selling Dodge vehicles in 1926 and began a Ford franchise in 1931. It changed the name of the company to Tri-County Motor Co. in 1939.
Tri-County Motor Co. is now located on Highland Street (Hwy. 79).
