Paschall Completes Year-Long Fellowship

Nashville, Tenn.—Rhea Elementary Principal Sandra Paschall recently completed a year-long fellowship with the Governor’s Academy for School Leadership. Paschall was one of a small group of school principals in Tennessee selected for the academy.
The 12-month academy began in 2016, with 23 fellows from 23 Tennessee districts completed the program. A second group of 24 assistant principals from 21 districts started their studies in January of 2017.
Paschall said both Governor Bill Haslam and Commissioner Candice McQueen “have both been present and supportive throughout the year-long Academy.”
The Academy sessions were held at Vanderbilt’s Peabody College and the Governor’s Academy is a collaboration among Peabody, Haslam’s office, the Tennessee Department of Education and school districts throughout the state.
Fellows attend monthly training sessions with Peabody faculty and the fellows are trained to serve as mentors throughout the state. Haslam said, “We have raised expectations, invested more in education and are making huge strides in education in Tennessee.”
