TEMA Issues State Of Emergency

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has issued a state of emergency as dangerous icy and snowy conditions continue to cause significant impacts on roads and highways in Western and Middle Tennessee.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing to ask people to stay off roadways if possible and Gov. Bill Haslam is asking people take extra precautions.

In Henry County—where snow totals ranged from 7-9 inches–law enforcement was especially busy all day and through the night Friday with multiple wrecks and cars—and even semis—in ditches. Several roadways were blocked for periods of time by numerous collisions.

In Obion County, Chief Deputy Kent Treece said things were much quieter as that county’s snow totals were much lower. “Things have been relatively quiet here,” Treece said.
