Paris, Tenn.—The members of the tiny Pleasant Hill Community came to play Saturday morning, raising $13,703 for the Helping Hand Radio Auction. It is the biggest one-day total so far for this year and raises the grand total to $31,495.
Despite bad weather conditions, the bakers and cooks at Pleasant Hill brought dozens and dozens of delicacies to be auctioned off and serious bidders were on hand for the Saturday session. One coconut cake went for $900 and was purchased by Cotton Sanders.
The Turner Charitable Fund of Tony and Rick Turner said they will donate $2,000 more to add to today’s Pleasant Hill total.
Monday’s items will be donated by Quinn Chapel, Civil Air Patrol, Inman Beta Club, and St. John’s-CDS.
On Tuesday, items will be donated by Security Bank and White & Associates, Wimberly Agency.
On Wednesday, items will be donated by Commercial Bank, Foundation Bank, Regions Bank, First Bank and Carroll Bank and Trust.
Each year, thousands of dollars is raised for a long list of local non-profit organizations by Helping Hand. Volunteers from local organizations donate homemade items that are auctioned off each day. Last year, Helping Hand raised $353,662.00.
The auction is broadcast daily on WTPR-AM 710 beginning at 12:30 p.m. and on Saturday auctions at noon.
Auction phone is 644 1695.
