UC Driver Cited After Two-Car Accident

Union City, Tenn.—An 84-year-old Union City woman was cited following a two car accident which caused the other driver to drive through a fence and into a yard in the 700 block of Exchange Street.
Billie Burkett of Hwy. 22, Union City, was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
According to the police report, Burkett was stopped at the stop sign at Exchange and S. Home Street, heading westbound. The other driver, Linda Scarborough, age 67, of Humboldt, was northbound on S. Home Street.
After stopping at the stop sign, Burkett proceeded into the intersection and struck the right rear of Scarborough’s vehicle. Scarborough’s vehicle began to slide on the wet street and to avoid hitting a street sign, Scarborough jerked the wheel and the vehicle left the roadway, jumped the curb, went through a fence and into a yard.
According to the report, Scarborough was possibly injured, but not transported to the hospital.
