Our area is under a Winter Weather Advisory due to a winter storm system that will impact the region Thursday through Friday night with heavy rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow.
The area should see just rain tomorrow with warm temperatures in the mid 60’s. Rainfall totals will be near one inch through 3 am Friday. A gusty south wind up to 25 mph Friday.
Weather forecasters say a cold front will move into the area about 1 am Friday morning causing temperatures to drop significantly. Forecasters predict the temps will probably drop 20-30 degrees in a matter of three to four hours. By about 5 am Friday our temps will drop below the freezing mark switching the rain over to freezing rain.
There will be travel issues for the Friday morning commute, with freezing rain accumulating on trees and power lines. Mid-morning Friday, there will be a switch to sleet, with accumulation up to one inch.
Snow is predicted late morning to early afternoon, with up to four inches possible in our area.
