Paris, Tenn.—It was one of your more unique ribbon-cutting events. A large crowd was on hand for this morning’s ribbon-cutting at the new public restroom in downtown Paris, at which Chamber and city officials used—what else?—toilet paper for the ribbon-cutting. City Manager Kim Foster and City Parks and Recreation Director Tony Lawrence praised the work of city employees on constructing the new facility, which is conveniently located in the city park at the corner of Wood and Market Streets. Foster said, “We wanted to do this right because it’s in the center of town and we wanted the brickwork to match what we have in the park.” The majority of the project is funded by a State Tourism Enhancement grant. The restroom will be locked every night at 10 p.m. and re-opened every morning. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
