Henry, Tenn.—A field fire call Wednesday has prompted the Henry Volunteer Fire Department officials to remind everyone that all outside fires require a burn permit this time of year.

Henry fire units were dispatched to Mockingbird Ave. and found a quickly-spreading field fire moving toward multiple structures. Firefighters quickly contained the fire to prevent further damage.

The fire began with someone burning cardboard boxes and Henry Fire officials said it is required that residents check with the Forestry Department before burning to ensure it’s safe to burn “regardless of what you’re burning”.
“The ground is dry and just a simple cigarette being thrown from a window can start something that burns homes,” fire department officials said.
