Paris, Tenn.—Volunteers were already at work today, setting up the Enoch Building for the upcoming 39th annual Helping Hand Radio Auction 2018.
Helping Hand opens Monday morning and runs through February 28. The auction raises thousands of dollars each year for dozens of non-profit organizations in Henry County. Last year, Helping Hand raised over $350,000.
The Helping Hand auction is broadcast daily on WTPR-AM 710 and on KQ105.5 for Saturday night auctions. The auction is held at the Enoch Building at the Henry County Fairgrounds. Schedules are available at Helping Hand, at the WTPR offices in Paris and other local businesses. Schedules also were mailed to all Paris Board of Public Utilities customers last month.
The auction is totally operated by a small army of volunteers and the members of a long list of organizations bring homemade items—from pies, cakes and casseroles—as well as handcrafted creations to be auctioned off.
As is tradition, the first day of Helping Hand will kick off with Lakeway Kiwanis, the Paris Lions Club and Paris Lioness Club volunteers.
This year’s auctioneers are: Fred McLean, Cindy Snyder, Junior Staggs, Ray Compton, Noel Hatman, Doug Taylor, and Bill McCutcheon.
Donated items are accepted until 9 a.m. each day. Please label all items with community or group, name of donor, and a description of each item.
The auction phone is 731 644 1695. And as they say at Helping Hand, “Ring Those Phones!”
