Mayfield, Ky.—A Union City man has been arrested on multiple charges are he allegedly left the scene of an injury accident on the Purchase Parkway earlier this week. The accident occurred in the afternoon of Tuesday of this week and the suspect was arrested by Union City Police on Wednesday.
Warrants were issued for Gary Moore, age 34, following the accident which was caused when a passenger car struck the rear of a camper driven by Richard Nail of Indiana. The collision caused the camper to jackknife and roll over several times. The camper also hit a guard rail. A passenger in the camper was trapped in the vehicle, seriously injured, and airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
The driver of the passenger car failed to stop or render assistance. Witnesses wrote down the Tennessee license plate. Through investigation, the vehicle was found abandoned at the Kentucky Juvenile Justice Facility in Mayfield.
Graves County Deputies went to the juvenile facility and found that a staff member had transported Moore and another adult, later identified as Gary’s brother, 33 year old Kenneth Moore, to Walmart in Mayfield. Gary Moore later contacted the Sheriff’s Office stating that he wanted to turn himself in at the Union City Police Department. Moore did now show up at that location at the time he stated he would.
Arrest warrants were issued for Gary Moore on Wednesday, December 27th. He was located by the Union City Police Department on the evening of the 27th and arrested. Moore will be extradited back to Graves County to face the following charges: assault in the 1st degree, three counts of wanton endangerment 1st degree, felony leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aide, criminal mischief 1st degree and operating on a revoked/suspended license.
