First Day Hikes Set At Reelfoot, Paris Landing

First Day Hikes are being planned at all state parks in Tennessee on January 1, including at Reelfoot Lake State Park and Paris Landing State Park.

At Reelfoot, the hike will be held from 3-4 p.m. Join Ranger Jerry Hall and you may see Bald Eagles flying over, ice formations at Kiwanis Park, snow geese and ducks roosting at Long Point or Black Bayou.

Reelfoot Lake is a major wintering ground for thousands of ducks, geese and hundreds of Bald Eagles. It’s an easy one mile hike and open to both adults and children. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and warm clothes. Due to weather conditions, the ranger will announce the location of the hike that day.

Hike reservations: call 731 253-9652.

Meet at Reelfoot Lake State Park Visitor Center, which is located across the street from Boyettes Dining Room on Hwy 21 East in Tiptonville, TN

At Paris Landing, the hike will be in the light of a full moon, with the hike set for 7 p.m. Meet at the conference center and hike the trail to the bonfire area. Hot drinks and snacks will be served. Dress appropriately and bring a flashlight.

You can register for the event with Park Manager Josh Walsh at 641 4465 or Joshua.walsh@tn.gov.
