Buchanan, Tenn.—It really will be a time for shivering in the river on New Year’s Day when the 9th annual “Shiver On The River” event takes place at the Paris Landing State Park boat ramp.
This may be the chilliest one yet—and that’s saying something. An arctic blast will continue in the area through New Year’s Day and the overnight low on Sunday, the night before the event, will be only 7 degrees.
People always come in costume for the event and this year we would especially advise that participants dress in heavy costumes with a lot of layers. The event will be held rain or shine, according to organizers.
Registration begins at noon and the event begins at 12:30 p.m. Trophies are awarded for first, second, and third individual and group contributions and Most Outrageous Costume.
Brunch for participants will be held after the event at the Paris Landing Inn and awards are presented at the brunch.
As always, all proceeds go to the REAL Hope Youth Center in Paris.
T-shirts with the logo “I was a giver without the shiver” will be on sale for $25.
