By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.—A wild police chase involving both Henry County Sheriff’s deputies and Paris Police ended in a gulley behind homes on Park and Ogburn Streets this morning.
The suspect ditched his car on Ogburn Street and ran into the gulley, where he was hiding behind a tree stump.
He was apprehended by deputies and was taken to the emergency room when he complained that he had leg pain.
Drugs, including meth and marijuana, were found in the suspect’s car.
Sheriff Monte Belew said the suspect bolted from the traffic stop and several deputies began the pursuit, assisted by Paris Police.
The pursuit went through the residential neighbourhood involving Park and Ogburn Streets and the officers and the suspect drove through driveways during the chase.
Belew said the suspect is facing evading charges, along with the drug charges. He also was driving on a suspended license.
More details will be published when the police report is completed.
