By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.—A house on Hwy. 69N in Henry County was heavily damaged by fire which firefighters said originated from the artificial Christmas tree.
Paris Firefighters were called to 615 Hwy. 69N at 1:18 p.m. Friday on a report of a structure fire. According to Assistant Chief Randall Jones, when firefighters arrived, the fire was underway, coming from the area of the dining room where the artificial tree was located.
Damage was estimated at $30,000, he said, with most of the damage contained to the room of origin. However, there is smoke damage also throughout the house, which is a one-story structure.
The property is owned by Charles Yanders and rented by Bryant Freeland. No one was injured.
Firefighters were on the scene until 2 p.m.
