Paris, Tenn.— District Attorney Matt Stowe of the 24th Judicial District recently sent an alert to Henry County High School warning of a fatality due to a dangerous drug mixed with marijuana in a neighboring county.

Stowe said, “I want to issue a warning directly to the youth of our district to beware of all illegal drugs, particularly marijuana in light of this latest development.  While you may not consider marijuana to be a dangerous drug, there is no way to know what has been laced into marijuana.  Any drug that is not prescribed by a doctor and dispensed by a licensed pharmacist is subject to being highly dangerous and can be altered, modified or enhanced with other substances which can prove deadly.”

Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Griffey said the District Attorney’s office wanted local youth to be aware of the situation, especially with the likelihood that the laced marijuana may make its way to other counties in the local area.

Griffey told WENK/WTPR that the alert was sent out “in the abundance of caution so that people will think twice about using the substance, until they apprehend someone for it or fully track it down”.
