Weakley Co. Law Enforcement Hosts Children’s Shopping Trip

Martin, Tenn.—Members of the law enforcement community of Weakley County took over 30 children Christmas shopping on Friday night.

Weakley County Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan said the children were between the ages of three and 13 and each child picked out shoes, clothes and toys with a total value of $100 each child. The shopping trip took place at the Martin Walmart.

The children, whose names were supplied to officers by various Weakley Co. agencies, were also given Bibles, candy and a copy of the book, “Sheriff Smith and Justice”.

The shopping trip was funded with money raised during a golf tournament and other donations.

Helping with the trip were staff from the Tennessee Department of Corrections, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Tennessee Department of Childrens Services and the Weakley County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
